GOTOH's Black Chrome Plating is available again.

With RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) going into effect 2006, we voluntarily ceased manufacture of products made with plating (Black Chrome) containing hexavalent chrome, which is one of the restricted substances.
We did this because, with the circulation from the time RoHS went into effect of widely varying information about detection methods, there was no determination of the absolute standard value.
However, having concluded that the hexavalent chrome detection method can be satisfied by obtaining “elution detection value through boiling,” we have confirmed that the hexavalent chrome value in our company products is far below the standard value. For that reason, we will resume production of “Black Chrome Products.”
